How to become more productive

It’s very easy to get sidetracked with all of your client work and forget about investing time into your business. You want to generate more income so you throw your efforts into the tasks that create your revenue streams. However, in order to grow your business you need to set time aside to work on your business and not just in it.

We get into every day habits and most of us crave for routine. We shouldn’t look upon habits negatively. Having set routines keeps us organised and we know what to expect. The more organised we are the more productive we can be. That means less time wasted so you can concentrate on your business.

How do I get myself more organised?

Putting processes in place for all of your tasks encourages efficiency. It ensures that no vital steps are missed and makes it easier for you to delegate to other people once the time comes to do so.

Create yourself a to-do list for each day. Don’t over commit and only add to the list what needs to be done and in priority order. Over committing yourself can leave you feeling disheartened when you haven’t achieved everything you set out to do. Cross things off the list as you do them so that you can see your progress. You could even use a task management tool such as Asana for example.

Software and automation

Use software to your advantage. We quite often don’t use the software we have to its full potential. By introducing integrations and automations this will free up time for you so that the time you do have is much more productive. It will also make your processes much more streamlined, meaning you’re less stressed. The calmer you are the less mistakes will happen and mistakes only cause more work!

Set goals

Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve in your personal life and your business will keep you motivated. When you set goals you also need to put steps in place to work out how to get there. Putting a plan of action in place means your goals are in easy reach, little steps rather than climbing mountains!

Hire a bookkeeper

A bookkeeper can support you with your finances, you’ll no longer have to worry about monitoring your incoming and outgoing transactions as we can do that for you. We can also look at your historic data to put a cash flow forecast together so that you know what you can expect to achieve over the coming years. If it’s not what you expected then we can help you with your goals, guiding you in the right direction. Outsourcing your bookkeeping is just one way you can free up time. Delegation is key for your business to become more productive. Having experts on hand to concentrate on the areas which you don’t necessarily excel in means you can concentrate on your area of expertise.
